WWE SummerSlam 2012 Start Time: When to Catch This Summer's Ultimate Event

Ian HanfordAug 17, 2012

SummerSlam's fight card is loaded with the all the drama, hype and monster matchups that WWE fans associate with the summer's ultimate event.

Of course, you're going to want to watch this. Here's how:

When: Sunday, August 19 at 8 p.m. ET

WRESTLING: OCT 02 AEW Dynamite/Rampage Pittsburgh
Monday Night RAW

Watch: Pay-per-view (local providers)

Live Stream: WWE.com carries everything for $44.95

Sunday night's event carries three title fights (four if you count the pre-show fight), and a handful of other notable matchups. Intrigue surrounding Brock Lesnar's headline match with Triple H is the night's main attraction, but the Triple Threat match between CM Punk, John Cena and Big Show isn't far behind.

Now that you know when to watch, let's make three predictions regarding SummerSlam's action:

Brock Lesnar Will Destroy Triple H

Destroy may be a harsh word, but I'll use it anyway. One way or another, Lesnar will claim victory in Sunday night's main event.

WWE has been begging for this moment since Lesnar's personality came into existence. He's got everything a wrestling superstar needs, and WWE has failed to market it up until this point.

Now, after maiming Shawn Michaels at Monday Night Raw, the perfect scenario has come together. Lesnar will continue his rampage against Triple H. Michaels will not please the crowd by storming the ring, and Lesnar will set off on a patch of WWE dominance.

It just makes sense. Survivor Series and WrestleMania are not that far away, and you can expect Lesnar to be a big ticket item when they arrive.

That all starts Sunday.

CM Punk Will Retain WWE Title

Punk turned heel in grand fashion at Raw 1000, but the momentum for this fight died after that. To me, it has been a bit bizarre.

Either way, CM Punk isn't going to lose this match. It wouldn't make sense to me for Punk's heel turn to be so loudly proclaimed just for him to lose in his next big match.

I don't expect this match to be all that exciting. Triple Threat rules make you think that this match will be nonstop, violent action, but you should expect an anticlimactic finish in this one. My gut tells me that Punk will either retain his title via disqualification, or he will win via cheap pinfall after Show and Cena destroy each other.

This match sounds perfect, but I'm expecting to be disappointed.

Dolph Ziggler is Next Star to Rise

Ziggler seems to be getting more attention lately, and I think he's the next person to face Punk for the WWE Championship.

He will start that path with a huge victory over Jericho in Sunday night's event. Expect a win via zig zag for Ziggler on Sunday night.

This is a perfect situation for Ziggler. Jericho is an awesome performer, and he will make sure Ziggler's victory looks good. They will put on a great show, and I expect this match to take awhile.

In the end, Ziggler will gain momentum and finish Jericho off. He should be happy to face a proven WWE veteran and one of the better showmen in the business.

It's hard to say when, but I see Ziggler's star rising in the coming months.
