NFL Preseason Week 2 Predictions: Tennessee Titans vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Jake Locker will get a big chance to prove that he’s worthy of being a starting quarterback in the National Football League, as the Tennessee Titans (0-1) take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-0) in a Week 2 preseason contest on Friday night at Raymond James Stadium.

The Titans are three-point road underdogs in the current NFL betting odds (courtesy of SBR Forum), while the total has held steady at 37.5.

Locker served predominately as Matt Hasselbeck’s backup during his rookie season after being selected with the eighth overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft, but he's looking to take over as the leader of the offense in his sophomore campaign.

The former Washington Huskies star completed 7-of-13 passes for 80 yards in a 27-17 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in the team’s preseason opener last Saturday.

Sports bettors may have an interest in backing the Titans in this spot, as second-year head coach Mike Munchak is 2-1 against the spread as an underdog during the exhibition season.

Tampa Bay walked away with a 20-7 victory over the Miami Dolphins as three-point road underdogs in their first round of action under Greg Schiano, who stood firm in his commitment to having a run-first mentality on offense that was similar to his head-coaching style at Rutgers.

The Buccaneers may stick to that approach as they decide on a featured running back—rookie Doug Martin is challenging LeGarrette Blount for that title.

I recommend taking the dog, as I’m not ready to lay points on a side that was outscored by 207 points last year—even if a new coach is manning the sidelines in a seemingly meaningless affair.
