Monday afternoon, Reuben Foster's status as a high school linebacker for Auburn (Ala.) High School seemed a bit blurry.

Thursday, it came into focus.

Jason Caldwell of Inside The Auburn Tigers reported Thursday that Foster, the 5-star linebacker who flipped his commitment from Alabama to Auburn shortly after transferring from Troup County High School in LaGrange, Ga., to Auburn High, has been cleared by the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) to play high school football in 2012.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported on Monday that Foster was scheduled to meet with the NCAA about his move across state lines.

“They are talking with Reuben and me," Foster's mother Anita Paige told the AJC. "They want to make sure there was nothing illegal done to get us down here, or anything like that. They want to make sure there wasn’t a college booster involved."

That story was later disputed by multiple sources including Jay G. Tate of AuburnSports.com, who reported that the meeting was a routine inquiry by the AHSAA—not the NCAA—into the circumstances surrounding his move, and whether or not he was eligible to play high school football in the state.

Foster commented on the disputed stories to Justin Hokanson of AuburnSports.com on Thursday.

"You live and learn, but you better comprehend before you talk," Foster said. "I wasn't worried a bit."

Foster is a consensus 5-star recruit who many view as the kind of linebacker who can make an immediate impact in the SEC.

He famously got an Auburn tattoo on his forearm shortly after flipping from the Tide to the Tigers.
