Tottenham Transfer Rumors: Joao Moutinho's 'Ambition' Could Mean Joining Spurs
With Tottenham's transfer window closing fast and rumors swirling faster than ever, one player still isn't ruling out coming to White Hart Lane and reuniting with a manager in Andre-Villas Boas who helped make him a star.
According to a recent report from Sporting News, Porto midfielder Joao Moutinho is still intrigued at the possibility of coming to Tottenham this summer and competing in the Premier League.
The 25-year-old star is reportedly in the dark concerning his future in England, but he admits to a shared "ambition" among players to climb the ladder of domestic leagues throughout Europe.

""I will continue to work. If an offer arrives, and it is good for both parties, Porto will, of course, study it. I do not know if there is the possibility of joining Tottenham. Every player has the ambition to try new leagues, but I am at Porto and I will continue to work in the same way."

If negotiations are going on—and if Moutinho is telling the truth—then all we know is that Moutinho isn't necessarily married to the idea of staying at Porto and would welcome the challenge of competing in England.
In July, Porto manager Vitor Pereira expressed a similar sentiment when he admitted to ESPN that "this is football and there are release clauses" and placed a £31.5 million price tag on his world-class midfielder.
That price seemed a little steep as early as this week, but BBC is reporting that Tottenham is finalizing an agreement to ship Luka Modric off to Real Madrid for £30 million. That money could be used to secure one of the most versatile midfielders in the game with Joao Moutinho, or it could be spread around to secure two or three players that would fill some needed gaps in the roster.
North London is holding its breath that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy opts to move in for a player like Moutinho who has excellent technique, pinpoint passing, moves quick on the ball, possesses well and isn't afraid of out-muscling opponents.
