Madden 13: EA Sports Releases Massive 175-Page Connected Careers Manual
If you have any questions about the new Connected Careers mode in Madden 13, the 175-page manual that EA Sports just released should answer them all.
You read that right, 175-pages of CC goodness, and I'll readily admit I got excited flipping through it.
Here is a link to both the instruction booklet and the CC manual from EA Sports.
Instruction Booklet (PDF)
Connected Careers Manual (PDF)
For those that need an overview, it covers:
Backstories
This talks about the identities created for the fictitious players who are drafted or created by you. The same goes for the coaches you create. Of course, the existing players and legendary coaches have their own backstories.
This is an awesome way to add some life to your mode experience.
New Ratings
There are new ratings for the CC mode, and this section details them, and their functions. It really simplifies a portion of the rating system, and it makes it more position specific.
Player Types and Schemes
This is one of the most exciting parts of the CC manual, and the mode itself. The need to match the style of the player with the playing style of the team is awesome.
This is one of those things that is simply pure football, and I love it.
You hear analysts talking about teams like the New York Jets looking for a 3-4 OLB. This is exactly what this section talks about.
What Team and Where You Should Start?
If you're wondering what team you should pick, the CC manual gives you some examples of teams to start with. They break it down by team and position; it's really quite interesting.
Being a Coach and Being a Player
The manual breaks down the differences between playing as a coach and a player.
Scouting, Free Agency and Contract Offers
The manual breaks down the scouting and free agency aspect of the mode. The scouting is interesting, as it requires you to stay abreast of upcoming rookies and their backstories in college.
It's a decent way to deal with the fact that you can't import rosters from NCAA Football 13.
Team Profiles
This further breaks down each team, their current coaching and player situations. This is another good piece of information to guide you in choosing a team, or spot for your CC.
Legends
Madden 13 includes legends in the most verbose way the series ever has. This mode breaks down each of them, and gives a nice bit of background information.
If you read through these PDFs and you're not excited, you may want to have your football and video game vital signs checked.
