Manchester United have agreed on a deal to sign Arsenal striker Robin van Persie.

An official statement on Manchester United's official website revealed the completion of the deal.
"Manchester United is pleased to announce it has reached agreement with Arsenal Football Club for the transfer of Robin Van Persie."
"The deal is subject to a medical and the agreement of personal terms. A further announcement will be made in due course."
Arsenal's official website was also quick to release its own statement.
"Van Persie will travel to Manchester on Thursday in order to agree personal terms and complete a medical ahead of the proposed move."
With van Persie having announced that he would not be signing a new contract with the Gunners almost two months ago, United, Manchester City and Juventus were believed to have been in a three-horse race for the signature.
But it now appears that Sir Alex Ferguson has got his man, and just in time for the start of the new season, which begins this weekend.
United striker Wayne Rooney was quick to post his reaction to the news on his official Twitter page (http://twitter.com/WayneRooney).
Posting on Arsenal fan Piers Morgan's page, Rooney wrote "Arrrrr poor piers. what's up now big man?"
Morgan's response was immediate, claiming van Persie would now become the second choice striker at Old Trafford.
