The Last Week In Febuary: A Look at Sports, B/R Feedback Welcome
The top story this week is Tiger Woods return to the PGA Tour, and a first round win in match play. I will break down this match play tournament in depth, later tonight. Stay tuned.
In baseball news, Alex Rodriguez homered in the Yankees spring training opener. A-Rod needs a good season to quiet down his critic's and hopefully erase mistakes he made earlier in his career, as we all know, now.
The Red Sox also beat Boston College 6-1 in games that must be really thrilling for the college teams especially. A split squad plays the Twins in Fort Myers, Florida, as i write.
In the NBA, Stephon Marbury was bought out by the New York Knicks, which freed him up to negotiate with the Celtic's. This could be very good news for Laker fans. Marbury might be a poison, the Celtic's could do without.
The Chicago Bulls new look was a good one as they thumped Orlando 120-102.Tim Thomas,Brad Miller, and John Salmons all made good contributions in the win.
NBA play is winding down, and anticipation for the playoffs, loom.
Boston is 46-12.Everyone else in the Atlantic Conference sucks.
Cleveland is 44-11.Everyone else in the Central Conference sucks.
Orlando is 41-15.Everyone else in the Southeast Conference sucks.
Out west, the Lakers are 47-10 with the best record in the NBA. Everyone else in the west sucks.
March madness is almost upon us in college basketball.Let's make a bold prediction.
Final Four,Pittsburgh,UConn, Oklahoma and North Carolina. Memphis, Louisville, Mich State, and Marquette are all pretty good and have a chance to upset one of the big boys. Oh, and Duke sucks!
The big names in sports have had their moments this week also.
Charles Barkley comes to mind first of all. He will do five days in jail, pay $2,000 in fines, and go to Alcohol classes.
He stepped up and pleaded guilty and took responsibility for a dumb mistake by Sir Charles.I applaud this decision by Barkley to man up and take his medicine. I think he will learn and become a better person for the experience.
Marvin Harrison was released by Indy and will look to be a good second or third option for some other quarterback besides Peyton Manning. Look for Marvin in Philadelphia. perhaps. The Buc's could use him as well. Jeff Garcia would love to have Marvin, i bet.
And lastly, Donovan Mcnabb will wait on signing a contract extension. Donovan would like some closure on the benching incident, plus would like Andy Reid and the GM to step up and get this offense to the next level.
A Boldin, an Edgerrin James, a Marvin Harrison, and perhaps a Derrick Brooks to make this team all it can be, and get a parade in Philly.
In NASCAR Racing Matt Kenseth won his second race in a row in California, edging out Jeff Gordon. Great pit crew work sealed the deal for the Kenseth team.
I almost watched this entire race, as my local stations switched to digital and my converter box is not working yet,so I only get Fox. I however, fell asleep and missed the finish.
That's about it, have a fantastic finish to the short month of February.
