Video: Rashad Evans Talks Potential Bouts with Chael Sonnen and Anderson Silva

John HeinisAug 13, 2012

Over the weekend at UFC 150 in Denver, Colorado, MMA Live's Todd Grisham interviewed former UFC light heavyweight challenger Rashad Evans about what's next after losing a title bout to Jon Jones at UFC 145.

"I'm ready. I stay ready. Chael will always be an interesting fight, but we work together a lot for FUEL TV, so I don't know if it will happen," Evans told Grisham (transcription via MMA Mania).

"Besides, I think Chael might be going up [in weight]. I'm never one to back away from a fight, so if Chael wants to come up, we gotta do it."

Earlier this month, "Suga" called out former UFC middleweight title challenger Chael Sonnen on Twitter, though it remained unclear what weight class the potential bout would take place at given Sonnen's recent proclamation that he may return to light heavyweight.

Evans goes on to say that he'd like a piece of UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva sooner than later, though he would like at least one more fight at 205 pounds before dropping down a weight class.

"

"Ultimately, [I'd like to fight someone like] Anderson Silva, but I would have to establish myself in the weight class, so they say. I don't know. As a matter of fact, Dana White, CALL ME! Joe Silva, CALL ME! I just wanna fight the best competitors. It's really hard to go down a weight class after you lost a fight, it doesn't leave a good taste in your mouth, so I may have to get one back at 205 before I go down to any weight class."

"

Shortly after Silva beat Sonnen for the second time at UFC 148, Evans seemingly called out Silva. However, the former Michigan State Spartan relented when asked to clarify his tweet

Does the former Ultimate Fighter still have intriguing bouts left for him at light heavyweight, or is Evans' middleweight debut long overdue?
