McKayla Maroney: U.S. Gymnast Has Fun with Snarky Pose That Went Viral

Josh SchochJun 7, 2018

We've all seen the images of McKayla Maroney after she fell to win silver instead of gold in the women's vault.

In the 2012 Olympics one of the most secure bets for a gold medal was Maroney on vault. She is so much better than anyone else in the world that a silver was shocking. She was clearly upset, and her body language showed it.

Arms crossed and a face that went viral with Internet memes, Maroney could have let that moment haunt her career.

Instead she's having some fun with it.

Maroney posted this picture on Saturday, using that same face once again. She's taking it in stride, and moving on. She easily could have let this ruin her career and wallow in sadness. Instead she is laughing at herself, which isn't something most athletes can do.

Maroney's ability to take a step back from competition and share this photo shows that she is moving on and has become a great role model for kids.

Even though she won a gold medal with the Fab Five in London she could have let that fall ruin her Games, but that doesn't appear to be the case.

How do you feel about Maroney's ability to share this photo and make fun of herself? Is it an inspiring characteristic that she can be so humble or is it poor for the sport? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below.
