PGA Championship 2012: Day 2 Leaderboard Updates, Highlights and More
It was a great day of golf on the second day of the PGA Championship at Kiawah. The swirling winds and rough conditions tested the best the world has to offer, and as expected, many rose to the occasion and shot respectable second-round scores on Friday.
There were clutch moments like Woods’s 22-foot birdie on the fourth green, an alligator ate a snake (literally), Vijay Singh’s birdie on the 14th hole and Chuck Daly’s pants.
Daly had himself a decent second day, but his pants were less than impressive after the first day’s incredulous display.
It was a big day for Carl Pettersson until the back nine. With winds in his face, he stood firm and steady but couldn’t fight off the onslaught, shooting a 2-over par and failing to hold off the surging Tiger Woods. Pettersson had the round and lead going into Day 3, but he failed miserably by posting a second-day 75 after a great start with an opening-round 66 on Thursday.
He’s tied for the lead and certainly not out of it, but Pettersson has to be concerned with the huge change in his play from one day to the next. That just goes to show you how dangerous and unforgiving this course can be.
Woods had a pretty good day himself, but he lost two strokes by shooting a second-day 71 to follow up his opening-round 69. Luckily for Woods, the rest of the pack had just as many struggles with the Island Course.
Veteran Vijay Singh was on the opposite wavelength of Woods. He turned his opening-day 71 into an improved 69 on Day 2 of the championship. Along with Phil Mickelson, Singh is the only golfer inside the top 12 who was able to improve on Day 2.

Weekend Prediction
This difficult terrain is not letting any one player significantly pull ahead. With that being the case, the next two days are going to be competitive golf on an exciting and challenging course.
Tiger Woods is playing very good golf right now and may be able to use his experience and control to temper whatever storm the Island Course has planned for this weekend.
