Liverpool Transfer News: Reds Finally Sign Swansea Midfielder Joe Allen

One Welshman out, another finally coming to Anfield.

The same day that Liverpool confirmed Craig Bellamy's departure to Cardiff City, the club confirmed the signing of 22-year-old midfielder Joe Allen.

Allen had been linked to a move to Liverpool all summer, but his move from Swansea City was continually delayed by numerous snags.

Today, the switch was finally made, reuniting the young midfielder with his old Swansea manager and new Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers.

Allen made his mark in the Premier League last year, appearing in 36 Premier League matches and scoring four goals.

The move was confirmed on Liverpool's official website, where Allen was quoted:

For his part, new manager Rodgers said:

The fee paid for the midfielder has not been disclosed yet.

Allen's signing is the second of the summer window for Liverpool after striker Fabio Borini.

The Welshman should fit right in to the new system due to his familiarity with Rodgers' system, and thus should be a great addition.
