Olympic Wrestling 2012: Where and When to Watch All of the Day 15 Action

Jessica MarieAug 11, 2012

It may be one of the last events to take center stage at the 2012 Olympics, but there is a lot of it still to come.

The wrestling portion of the Olympic schedule began on August 5 and wraps up this weekend, which includes 18 total events on Saturday and six medal events. It's going to be a long day for the competitors, as the qualification, round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals and finals will all take place in a six-hour window.

The men's freestyle 60kg, 84kg and 120kg competitors will be at the forefront on Day 14, all of them competing for a share of some Olympic gold. The U.S.'s competitors have at least some chance of coming away with the gold, but on Saturday, the best chance rests with heavyweight contender Jake Herbert.

Herbert entered the Games as a decorated contender, though maybe not quite up there with U.S teammate Jordan Burroughs: He won the silver medal at the 2009 World Championships and he was the recipient of the Hodge Trophy (which NBC describes as the wrestling version of the Heisman) as a senior at Northwestern University.

But for Herbert, the Olympics is a new game and he has his sights set on something better than the silver. He's even been engaging in positive-visualization exercises in order to increase his chances, as he told USA Today (via the Detroit Free Press):

"

My head says positive things. I've trained it. I don't let it say any negative things. Just think and dream about the best stuff, and the best stuff will happen.

"

Herbert earned his spot at the 2012 Games after prevailing at the 2012 Team Trials, but according to Yahoo! Sports, he could face stiff competition on the international spectrum from Iran's Reza Yazdani and Russia's Abdusalam Gadisov.

Here's where and when you can see Herbert and the rest of the Day 15 wrestling action on August 11. The full TV schedule can also be found at NBCOlympics.com
