TNA Wrestling: Bound for Glory Series Reaches the Final Stretch

Daniel PeragineAug 10, 2012

With September quickly approaching and October to arrive after, wrestlers in the Bound For Glory Series are in their final stretch to become the No. 1 contender. The winner will have the opportunity to square off against the current TNA Heavyweight Champion.

Here are the updated standings for the Bound For Glory Series (via TNA Wrestling):

The No. 1 spot is currently held by James Storm with 66 points. Samoa Joe is right behind him with 53 points. In third, Kurt Angle has 41 points. Mr. Anderson is just one point behind Angle at 40 for the fourth spot. At No. 5 is Jeff Hardy with 35 points.

Meanwhile near the bottom of the list, Christopher Daniels remains at sixth with 33 points. Rob Van Dam holds the No. 7 spot. Others below that include Magnus, Bully Ray, AJ Styles, The Pope D'Angelo Dinero and Robbie E.

Does James Storm have the makings to win the Bound For Glory Series?

In many ways, Storm is in the driver's seat to win the Bound For Glory Series. With his recent string of victories on Impact! Wrestling and at house shows, Storm is beginning to pull ahead of Samoa Joe.

The question is whether Storm will have an involvement with Aces and Eights after the Bound For Glory Series is over. Storm has been tossed around as to whether he is behind the heel group that has taken TNA by storm.

TNA has done a terrific job not just having Storm pull away in the standings but also to be that unidentified leader of Aces and Eights.

If Storm wins, will he face Austin Aries, Bobby Roode or both?

I believe if Storm comes away with the victory in the standings, he will face off with Aries and Roode. The Bound For Glory pay-per-view could be extremely interesting if a three-way match were to be in place for the TNA title.

Aries should be champion by that point. I would not agree with TNA if they pulled the plug on him after just one month. Although they have performed this in the past, TNA is in a new day with how the shows are formatted.

Roode could also be tied up somewhere to make it a three-way. Perhaps the returning General Manager Hulk Hogan could make that announcement.

These are all possibilities. Bound For Glory looks to be an interesting set up in October.
