Top Contenders
Tiger Woods
As long as Tiger Woods is playing golf, he will be a contender to start every tournament. This is especially true as the star has moved back into second in the world rankings.
He has not won a major since the 2008 U.S. Open, but he has three tournament wins this year and performed very well at the Open Championship. This is his best chance to win a major in a few years.
Lee Westwood
There should be a limit as to how many times you can get close to winning a major without actually finishing in first. Since 2008, Westwood has finished in the top three of a tournament on seven different occasions.
Eventually, he will be able to close one of these out.
Rory McIlroy
He has struggled since briefly taking over the No. 1 ranking in the world, but McIlory seems to finally be moving back in the right direction.
A solid performance at the Bridgestone Invitational should provide the youngster with confidence, which is something he has been lacking at recent events. If he can keep mentally strong, he still has the skill to win any tournament.
