Chelsea Transfer News: Blues Reportedly to Make £20M Bid for Andre Schurrle
Chelsea is quietly turning into the biggest spender of the Premier League during this summer's transfer window.
Since the window opened, the Blues have spent more than £60 million in transfer fees, luring up-and-coming talents Oscar, Eden Hazard and Marko Marin to Stamford Bridge.
Before this morning, the latest rumor was Chelsea going after Marseille right-back Cesar Azpilicueta for a reported £8 million, according to Sky Sports.

That was before this morning.
Now, the Daily Mail is reporting that Chelsea has improved a formerly rejected bid for Bayer Leverkusen forward Andre Schurrle, going as high as £20 million.
Schurrle, who made 40 appearances for Leverkusen last season, helped the German side finish fifth in the Bundesliga while reaching the last 16 of the Champions League.
The former Mainz striker is as versatile as it gets at the top of the key, able to play a variety of attacking positions. 15 of his 40 appearances came at the attacking midfielder position in the center of the pitch, but he's played extensively at winger and also at forward. He also got a call up to be a part of Germany's Euro 2012 squad, helping Die Mannschaft reach the semi-finals.
If nothing else this summer, Chelsea has put a priority—a near £100 million priority—on becoming much, much younger. At 21 years old, Schurrle helps them do just that.
