Tottenham Transfer Rumors: Spurs Line Up Transfer Bid for Mohamed Kamara

It's just too bad Joao Moutinho costs a lot of money.

From varying reports, Moutinho will cost a club anywhere in the neighborhood of £18-£25 million—far too much for a Tottenham Hotspur club that is strapped for cash, thanks to an inability to offload Luka Modric to Real Madrid.

Because of the near unending transfer saga with Modric and the subsequent stalling of cash, chairman Daniel Levy is lining up a bid for Partizan Belgrade midfielder and Sierra Leone international Mohamed Kamara.

According to Mirror.co.uk, Partizan could be willing to let go of Kamara for a transfer fee in the neighborhood of £12 million—nearly half of what Moutinho would cost.

It's interesting that Tottenham is reportedly going after Kamara. He can certainly do well in the center of the midfield, but he's more adept at playing defensive midfielder. Sandro and Scott Parker represent two players that Tottenham has who are talented and both experienced at defensive midfielder.

Parker, however, is eight years Sandro's senior and out indefinitely with an injury, so Villas-Boas is thinking one of several things: Sandro isn't going to be a starter, Kamara can be Parker's replacement or Kamara, Parker and Sandro are versatile enough to slot somewhere else in the formation.

Whatever the reason, Kamara is an up-and-coming talent whose time has come to test himself in the upper echelons of world football.

In addition to his being a part of Sierra Leone men's national team, Kamara has won two league titles and the Serbian Cup with Partizan since joining from Finland's HJK Helsinki in 2010.
