Scotty McKnight will not be a New York Jets wide receiver this season. He was cut from the team despite some high-profile cheering from his girlfriend Hayden Panettiere.

Geoff Herbert of Syracuse.com reports the Jets will no longer have the actress famous for playing a cheerleader with super powers along any of their sidelines this season.

We are directed to the official announcement from the Jets website that reports both wide receivers Scotty McKnight and DaMarcus Ganaway were waived on Tuesday.

Well, that's no fun.

Despite what should be a pretty busy schedule, Panettiere was spotted cheering on her man at the team's practices from SUNY Cortland.

This ends the run for the 24-year-old receiver who was taken in the seventh round by the Jets, no doubt a tip of the hat to Mark Sanchez

Herbert directs us to an NBC Sports report that says the two were childhood friends. What's really amazing is how supportive this Hollywood star has been for the receiver who will now be looking for work with another team.

Earlier reports had the diminutive actress at a number of preseason workouts, giving some of the most grueling and lackluster parts of the NFL year some celebrity sizzle.

Panettiere is no stranger to the sports world. Besides also being chummy with Sanchez, she was the long-time girlfriend to heavyweight boxer Wladimir Klitschko.

It's seems this starlet isn't too big to root for her boo, and that's rather adorable.
