I'm Joe Silva for One Event: UFC 101
So, Sean Schimling came with a concept and I decided to follow it up here (hope you're happy bro) with fights I would love to see for UFC 101.
Following what will probably be the biggest show in UFC history, UFC 101 could still end up being a very interesting event, so if I were Joe Silva for one night, that's what I would do.
Undercard
Dan Hardy vs. Dustin Hazelett
Both guys are the future of the Welterweight division in the UFC, they both have huge talent and this fight would be a war for sure.
Gray Maynard vs. Clay Guida
I know a lot of people want to see this one, and quite frankly, it's very interesting to me, too. Who can push the pace more?
Pat Barry vs. Anthony Hardonk
I was impressed with Barry when he defeated Dan Evensen, so putting him against a tougher striker like Hardonk would create fireworks for sure.
David Loiseau vs. Jason McDonald
Two Canadians fighting to get closer to a title shot can't be bad. Seriously, these two guys have the ability to have fight of the night in my opinion.
Brandon Vera vs. Ryan Bader
This would be a good test for both guys, because whoever loses should leave the UFC and fight elsewhere. Whoever loses the fight would never make it big in the UFC anyway.
Main Card
Roger Huerta vs. Joe Lauzon
If Roger Huerta ever comes back to the UFC, that's the fight he should come back to. Classic striker vs. Grappler between two young fighters and a great fight in my opinion.
Lauzon would have a distinct advantage in grappling and submission, but Huerta would probably have the advantage as far as striking is concerned.
Nate Marquardt vs. Demain Maia
Now this fight could take care of all the problems in the Middleweight division. Whoever wins advances to a title shot and the loser steps down and starts making his way back up. I think this is a dream fight to a lot of people and it should happen.
Jon Jones vs. Forrest Griffin
Jon Jones just came off the brutal beating of Stephen Bonnar and could become one of the top Light-Heavyweight fighters in the UFC in a couple of years.
I think this would be a good fight for Griffin to come back to. Could Griffin beat the guy who dominated his friend, Stephen Bonnar?
Plus, if "Bones" wins, he puts himself in serious title contention.
Diego Sanchez vs. Tyson Griffin
Diego Sanchez recently dropped down to the 155 division. He had a good performance against Joe Stevenson but a lot of people were expecting more from Sanchez. Diego would have no other choice but to bring his A-game against Tyson Griffin.
Griffin almost defeated Sean Sherk in his last fight and he's looking better and better.
Brock Lesnar vs. Gabriel Gonzaga for the UFC Heavyweight Championship
I made this fight considering that Lesnar would beat Mir and Gonzaga would beat Carwin. With that said, I think it's a very interesting fight.
Gonzaga is very good everywhere and could pose a serious threat to Lesnar. Gonzaga has very good kickboxing skills and great BJJ. Lesnar would have his hands full, but one thing is for sure, with a victory over "Napao," Lesnar would prove he's one of the best Heavyweight fighters in the UFC.
