And to think, all it took for Greivis Vasquez to win the hearts of the Maryland Terrapins faithful was a triple-double effort in an overtime victory against the third-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels.

It seems so long ago that Vasquez was, in essence, cursing out disgruntled Terp fans for jeering the effort of the Terrapins squad. And while Maryland is still a long shot for the NCAA national tournament without at least an appearance in the ACC basketball tournament semi-finals, General Greivis took the pain away. Just like 35-11-10.

The story lines are many. Maryland stays alive in its pursuit of a tournament appearance, Gary Williams’ job security grows ten fold, and Cliff Tucker, the true star of the game, emerges as the Terps’ most versatile offensive weapon after a stretch of inactivity. But for now, Greivis Vasquez has begun the turnaround most necessary for Maryland to make its run to a positive season.

And to think, all it took was the game of his life for all to be forgiven.
