Andrews was released in 2011 from WWE after being seen on WWE television in December 2010 as a bodyguard for Tyson Kidd.
The rumors surrounding Andrews 2011 release was in regards to his work ethic in WWE developmental became an issue. He wasn't showing up for training sessions, which resulted in the company parting ways with him.
There is never a positive in assault or abuse but it is good to note that Mendes isn't accused of doing anything wrong as initial reports on the Internet were suggesting.
It should be interesting to see if WWE makes any official statement—not only regarding the welfare of their current employee, but to the point of the accused being a former talent in the company a year and a half ago.
Mendes has been managing the tag team of Primo and Epico who have appeared on WWE programming at fairly regular pace for the last year.
They have been apart of a surge in redevelopment for the companies tag team division, which has been all but irrelevant the past few years with the focus of promotion on individual singles stars.
No timetable can be gauged at this point for Mendes to be on or off television in any relation of the incident. While Mendes is certainly a victim if the accusations of abuse are true, it’s a valid statement to wonder if WWE will be upset with having to deal with the situation.
As noted in the TMZ reports, Mendes and her relationship with Andrews has been controversial in the past with repeated “break ups.” The story also points out that Mendes claims this behavior towards woman is habitual.
Would this statement leave WWE wondering why Mendes continues to carry on a relationship with him and ultimately lead to a demotion or termination in her work with WWE?
Only time will tell.
