UFC on Fox 4: Lyoto Machida vs. Ryan Bader Round-by-Round Highlights and Recap
Lyoto Machida defeated Ryan Bader by an electrifying second-round knockout. An impatient Bader could not get in to land anything significant against the man they call "The Dragon."
UFC president Dana White told the press that whoever was the most impressive out of the Machida-Bader and Rua-Vera winners would earn themselves a title shot against Jon Jones.
If that promise holds up, Machida has made an excellent case for White to consider naming him the No. 1 contender. Here is the round-by-round recap:
Round 1
1 of 2Machida began the round with a lot of feinting. Bader was patient for the first two minutes as the wheels began spinning in his head.
Figuring out Machida is tough for anyone, but Bader showed signs that he was up for the challenge. He ran in and was able to get his jab inside to graze Machida, though he couldn't plant something solid.
After catching Bader a few times with a quick jab here and there, Bader went in to try to hold Machida and couldn't get a good lock before the quick Machida slipped out.
The round ended with Machida as the definite victor thus far.
10-9, Machida.
Round 2
2 of 2A lot of feints from Machida came early in the round until an impatient Bader ran straight into a right hand from Machida that turned off the lights and ended the fight.
Machida wins by knockout.
