Olympic Basketball Live Stream: Where to Catch Top Remaining Men's Group Games

Mike ChiariJun 7, 2018

With each team having played four games, there is only one day of group play remaining in the Olympic men's basketball tournament. Most of the games can be seen on NBC Sports Network, but for those who are looking to watch a non-televised game or don't have access to a TV at the time the game is happening, the NBCOlympics.com live stream is a great alternative.

The final pool matches will be played on Monday and will determine the matchups for the quarterfinals. While a couple of the games aren't as important of the others, all of them will have quarterfinal implications to some degree.

Here are the three biggest group games remaining, as well as a link to watch them streaming live on NBCOlympics.com.

USA vs. Argentina (Monday, Aug. 6 at 5:15 p.m. ET)

The United States survived a bit of a scare from Lithuania on Saturday, and will take on Argentina in its final group game with a chance to go undefeated in pool play. The United States will grab the top seed regardless of whether it wins or loses since France can only tie in points and the Americans already beat the French, but there is no question that head coach Mike Krzyzewski wants to enter the elimination stage on a high note.

This match is even more important for Argentina, though, as it is tied with France for the No. 2 seed in Group A.

France is likely to beat Nigeria, but if an upset happens, then Argentina could seize the second spot for itself with a win over the United States. The Americans narrowly defeated Argentina in an exhibition ahead of the London Games, so they will be out to prove their supremacy, while Argentina will try to finish the job this time around.

Spain vs. Brazil (Monday, Aug. 6 at 3 p.m. ET)

Most figured that Spain would run away with Group B and beat the United States in the gold-medal match, but after losing to Russia, things suddenly aren't so clear. Spain isn't in any danger of missing the knockout stage by virtue of three previous wins, but it has clearly struggled with less-than-impressive wins over Great Britain and China.

If Spain wants to solidify itself, then it needs a win over a tough Brazilian squad.

Brazil lost to Russia on a last-second shot and is probably better than it has shown thus far. The Brazilians should advance as well, but it may have to deal with the United States in the quarters if it finishes with the No. 4 seed.

Brazil played the Americans tough in an exhibition thanks to their quality interior of Nene and Anderson Varejao, but an upset of Spain would put it in a much more comfortable position.

Australia vs. Russia (Monday, Aug. 6 at 4 a.m. ET)

The biggest story of the men's basketball tournament thus far has been the play of Russia, which is undefeated and in control of its own destiny in terms of winning Group B. A win over Australia on Monday would accomplish that and complete one of the Russians' fine run in pool play.

That won't mean much if they falter in the knockout stage, but beating Australia and remaining undefeated should give Russia a lot of confidence to advance to the finals and potentially play against the United States for gold.

Australia is in a far more precarious position than Russia and may need a win just to advance out of group play. The Aussies have shown some grit and toughness, but without center Andrew Bogut, they clearly aren't the most talented team in the field. Russia is far from an invincible team, though, and doesn't have much star power either, so it wouldn't be a complete shock to see Australia pull off the upset.
