"Real Madrid are reportedly lining up a surprise move for Manchester United winger Nani. Nani, whose contract expires in 2014, has yet to agree to a deal at Old Trafford, despite Manchester United's desire to extent his stay at the club.
And according to protransfers.ru, Real Madrid are poised to capitalize on Nani's failure to agree to a new contract by testing United's resolve with a £19.7 million offer for the 25-year-old.
The Spanish champions believe their proposal could be boosted by the fact that Nani's agent Jorge Mendes also represents Cristiano Ronaldo and Bernabeu boss Jose Mourinho.
"
After a strong showing last season for the Red Devils, Nani's place in the first-team at United is under serious threat from the likes of Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia, who are likely to compete with the 25-year-old for a starting place on the wings, thanks to the addition of Shinji Kagawa from Borussia Dortmund.
Should United acquire Lucas Moura from Sao Paulo, competition for those starting roles will be fierce and could well force the Portuguese international to the bench.
Thus, a potential move over the summer transfer window must be taken seriously by the Red Devils, who as mentioned above, are yet to agree to a new contract with Nani.
The winger was reportedly frustrated during the recent 2012 European Championships—feeling that he was on the outer of Manchester United and wasn't going to agree to a new contract with the Premier League giants (via The Daily Mirror).
Those issues appear to be resolved for now, but with a potential move by Real Madrid, it seems those same fears are about to be tested all over again.
