Nebraska Football: What You Need to Know About Huskers' DE Cameron Meredith
We’ve gotten to know Kenny Bell, Baker Steinkuhler, Daimion Stafford, Will Compton and Ciante Evans this offseason. Now, it’s time to turn our attention to senior defensive end Cameron Meredith.
Here’s what you’ll need to know about Meredith as you get ready for the 2012 season.
He's Experienced
1 of 5Not only is Meredith a senior, he’s been in the Nebraska program since 2008 and has seen significant playing time throughout his career. Absent injury, Meredith has been a fixture on Nebraska’s defensive line.
He's Productive
2 of 5In his last two seasons, Meredith put up 64 and 58 total tackles respectively. He also logged 5.5 tackles for loss each season and had seven total sacks over the previous two years.
He's Almost Assuredly a Starter
3 of 5Meredith has started 27 straight games for Nebraska and is as close to a sure thing as NU will have this year on defense. He and Baker Steinkuhler should provide the senior leadership and consistency Nebraska will need to right the ship defensively from a sub-par 2011 campaign.
He's Getting Attention
4 of 5Meredith was named to the watch list for the Ted Hendricks Award, given annually to the nation’s top defensive ends. He is one of 39 total players named to the watch list and only one of five Big Ten defensive ends to be put on the Hendricks radar screen.
He Can Rock the Stache
5 of 5OK, he may not be a Kenny Bell. But you cannot deny the monstrosity of that stache, can you?
