Valerenga’s Run

The Norwegian squad has had success against its opponents recently.

Despite the team coming off a draw against Brann, Valerenga has won three of their last five. They also take on FK Haugesund before their showdown with Manchester United.

However, they still have problems. Goalie Lars Hirschfield has saved 17 goals, but surrendered 22.

Their offense is impressive, as their leading scorer Marcus Pedersen scored has eight in 13 games. They'll miss Harvard Nielsen, who scored six in 14 games.

Valerenga will have home-field and home-country advantage. They need to use that advantage and defend their turf against Manchester United.

Whether they do remains to be seen.

Manchester’s Run

Manchester United got back to their winning ways when they defeated Shanghai Shenhua 1-0.

They’re winning despite having injuries to defenders Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans. They’re also missing Fabio da Silva (loaned to QPR) and Rafael da Silva (Olympics).

The squad still has star Wayne Rooney. According to Richard Jolly of ESPN Soccernet, they might also have Serbian player Nemanja Vedic return from knee problems after an eight-month absence.

Despite missing four defenders, Manchester keeps on winning.

Prediction

Manchester United should beat Valerenga in this friendly.

Valerenga’s defense is the weakest part of their game. Manchester United also has struggled on the defensive side, but they have easily overcome their woes by holding onto their leads.

Even without their four defenders, their defense is capable of stopping any offense. Whether Vedic returns or not won’t make a difference. Expect Manchester United to keep winning.

Manchester United 2, Valerenga 1
