South Carolina Football: Steve Spurrier Raids Georgia for 4-Star CB
Steve Spurrier has long been Georgia's nemesis.
It started in the 1990s, when Spurrier was at Florida, and is continuing now that the Head Ball Coach has built the South Carolina program to a point where it's contending for SEC East titles on an annual basis.
As if two straight victories over the Bulldogs wasn't enough, he's also invading the state on the recruiting trail.
Brendan Langley, a 4-star cornerback from Marietta, Ga., committed to the Gamecocks on Wednesday evening, according to Tony Morrell of 247Sports.com.
Langley announced his decision via Twitter:
"Committed to the university of south Carolina! Aka DB-U!
— BRENDAN LANGLEY (@b_langley) August 2, 2012"
South Carolina signed 22 players from the state of Georgia from 2011 to 2012 and has seven committed already for the Class of 2013, with several more considering signing with the Gamecocks.
Langley is one of seven 4-star prospects already committed to the Gamecocks in the Class of 2013, according to 247Sports.com. At 6'1", 180 pounds, he's a tall, athletic player that has good cover skills and can play on offense if needed.
South Carolina has capitalized on the struggles that have fallen upon the Florida and Tennessee programs and has made an effort to raid Georgia in the process.
That strategy is apparently working.
