Tottenham Hotspur Transfer News: Tracking All the Latest Rumors and Updates

There has been no other Premier League side as strong and efficient over the summer transfer window as Tottenham Hotspur—bringing in new, exciting players and retaining their proven stars for the upcoming season.

Spurs still remain in the hunt for several others players and have been linked to a number of high-profile stars throughout the summer transfer window.

Luka Modric

According to The Daily Mirror, Tottenham want-away Luka Modric could end up starting the English Premier League season for Spurs, with Real Madrid believed to be backing out of a deal for Modric.

Tottenham are refusing to sell the Croatian midfielder for anything less than £40 million, which Real Madrid aren't looking like paying, which means that after all that's taken place, he could end up at White Hart Lane for the start of the new season.

New manager Andre Villas-Boas has stated (via Goal.com) that should that transpire, he would assess Modric's mental and physical state before using him in his squad—a smart move given the recent outburst he's had with the North London club this summer.

Maarten Stekelenburg

Tottenham are believed to be interested in signing Roma goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg over the summer transfer window after the player's agent, Rob Jansen, stated via Voetbal International (h/t Goal.com) that Spurs were interested in signing the 29-year-old.

The Daily Mail also tells a similar story, with Stekelenburg reportedly wanting out of the club after failing to settle into Italy.

Emmanuel Adebayor

Goal.com is reporting that Tottenham are thinking of dropping their interest in Emmanuel Adebayor, according to Andre Villas-Boas, and that a permanent deal for the striker would not take place.

Adebayor's player wages are too high for Spurs to pay, and whilst City are happy to let him go, they will not pay any of his wages for next season—meaning that a deal is unlikely to take place between the two clubs.

Julio Cesar

Julio Cesar could be on his way to White Hart Lane over the summer transfer window after the Inter Milan goalkeeper stated that he will be leaving the club (via talkSPORT). 

The 32-year-old is believed to be a Tottenham transfer target and a replacement for Brad Friedel, who, at 41, is unlikely to play too many more seasons at the club.

Hugo Lloris

Wrapping up our transfer news is Marseille goalkeeper Hugo Lloris—the man behind all of Spurs' acquisitions into goalkeepers lately.

Lloris was a long-term transfer target for the club but is unlikely to leave his current French club over the transfer window, according to The Daily Mail—meaning that Tottenham are in need to find a replacement goalkeeper for the aging Brad Friedel. 

That has led to the increased interest in both Maarten Stekelenburg and Julio Cesar on Spurs' part.
