Michael CummingsJun 7, 2018

It's almost like they're competing for the spotlight.

As the Robin van Persie saga slogs on, the Andy Carroll situation refuses to go quietly. While one has a team losing interest, the other has a team making grand gestures in full view of the public.

Well, in full view of the tabloids, anyway.

In addition to all that, Wednesday's edition of the B/R Transfer Tracker also has news on Gonzalo Higuain, Alex Song and Bayern Munich.

Read on for all the details.

1 of 5

Juventus are backing away from their interest in Arsenal striker Robin van Persie, according to Metro.

The Italians were thought to have bid £20 million for the 28-year-old Dutch forward, but general director Beppe Morotta has been quoted downplaying Juventus' interest:

"

"It's necessary to always have dreams and ambitions, but at the same time you also have to contend with the reality of everyday facts," Morotta told Gazzetta Dello Sport. "We're relaxed and we know what we have to do. This is the most important thing."

"

Meanwhile, former Arsenal forward Thierry Henry has said the club will move on even if van Persie leaves (Goal.com).

West Ham Offer Carroll Big Bucks?

4 of 5

The latest gossip in the Andy Carroll saga is nothing short of sensational.

The Sun, a publication never likely to back away from sensationalism, is reporting that West Ham United have offered Carroll a £36 million contract. The deal would pay Carroll his current salary of £90,000 per week for eight years.

Carroll, 23, reportedly turned down a proposed loan move to West Ham on Tuesday (ESPNSoccernet).

Bayern Give Up on Duo?

5 of 5

Bayern Munich have given up on signing defensive midfielder Javi Martinez and midfielder Lars Bender (Goal.com).

Bender, a 23-year-old German international, currently plays for Bayer Leverkusen. Martinez, 23, plays for Athletic Bilbao and Spain. Bayern had been linked with both players.

Bayern president Uli Hoeness is quoted as saying: "Fact is that we are unable to sign Bender and Martinez. That is why it does not serve any purpose to discuss them in public."
