NBC Sports Olympics Schedule 2012: Full Day 5 TV Broadcast Information

Jessica MarieJun 7, 2018

There's a lot in store for Olympics fans on Day 5 of the London Games.

First and foremost, the U.S. women's basketball team will look to keep its unbeaten streak alive as it takes on Turkey and continues its quest for a fifth-straight gold medal.

Select members of the men's gymnastics team will attempt to erase the bad memories from Monday's team finals by placing in the individual all-around finals. With Danell Leyva and John Orozco in the hunt for medals, you can't count out the Americans.

But finally—and most importantly—we'll get to see the rematch we've all been waiting for since the day the Olympics began. Phelps vs. Lochte, round two. The 200-meter individual medley is upon us.

The friendly rivals gave us a race to remember last Saturday in the 400-meter IM. Michael Phelps barely qualified for his first event, but Ryan Lochte owned the qualification and then destroyed the competition en route to his first gold medal of the summer.

That competition included Phelps, who—much to the shock and dismay of the nation—failed to earn a medal.

Phelps is a competitor, and like every competitor, he hates being upstaged. That's why Wednesday's qualification and semifinal will be one of the can't-miss events of this summer's Olympics.

The two champions may not be swimming for a medal just yet, but both of them are swimming for pride—Phelps, because he got embarrassed by Lochte just a few days ago, and Lochte, because ever since winning the 400 IM, he's struggled to dominate the competition.

The playing field is relatively even. During the Olympic trials, Phelps bested Lochte, but Lochte owns the current world-record time of 1:54.00, set at the 2011 World Championships

Here's a look at where and when you can watch Phelps vs. Lochte, plus all the rest of the Day 5 Olympic action. You can also take a look at the full TV schedule here.
