The English Cricket Team: Spilling Chances at Regular Intevals

Dann KhanFeb 22, 2009

At a time when revolutions are taking place in the world of cricket which are confusing cricket fans all over the world, this team is confusing me more than anything else

The England cricket team just snatched a draw(which I think is as good as losing the match in this case) out of the jaws of victory. Quite a feat.

But is this the first time we are seeing this?

No, and it's probably not the last time either.

Last year the team lost to India in a test match after posting 370 as a fourth-innings target.

Before that, in the ODI series with the same team, they gave away the winning positions.

Against South Africa, in the ODI they were fine, but in the first test at lords against them they could not pick up 10 wickets in two days!! That is enough time even though the pitch was of no help.

And finally, I would like to conclude by making you all remember the ODI series the team lost to New Zealand after being in winning positions in all the games during the series.

These are all examples of just the last year.

The England team has been so erratic, that their game has become unpredictable. All their players look in form but hardly anyone performs consistently.

I think the problem is that the current lot get's too overwhelmed by situations. Also the off-field issues are there.

I am getting into all this as I am an England fan as well. And I am worried about their the team's chances in the Ashes. I really wonder if this team can last the pressure of changing cricket.

Over the past few years I have seen the country's cricket on the decline and if things go on, I feel there would be a time when England would become a minnow.

It is now on Andrew Strauss to get the England of 2005 back into cricket.
