Attacking the Boards: Home-Court Advantage

Mark TravisFeb 22, 2009

New Orleans 88 - Utah 102: The Hornets were clearly tired from their overtime loss to the Lakers last night and it cost them another win against the Jazz. Chris Paul was the leader of the team again tonight, scoring 24 on 11 of 19 shooting with 7 assists, 5 rebounds and a steal.

Paul was the best player for the Hornets and he was forced to attempt to do too much. David West had a poor night shooting, 4-for-13, but went 10-for-12 from the line. He finished with 18 points and 1o rebounds. Rasual Butler had his second straight impressive game, dropping 21.

Even though Paul had the more complete game, USA teammate Deron Williams grabbed the double-double. Williams scored 20 and racked up 13 assists. Mehmet Okur had the best game for either team with 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists.

Paul Milsap added a dub-dub with 12 points and 10 boards.

Philadelphia 91 - Miami 87: It looks like that Jermaine O’Neal might pay off after all. In his second game with the Heat, O’Neal scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Even with Jermaine in the lineup, the star and leader of the this team is Dwyane Wade. Wade had a team high 25 points on 8 of 14 shooting, but the best part about Dwyane is his ability to fill up a stat sheet.

He also had 9 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and 3 blocks. Udonis Haslem also put up a double-double with 13 points and 10 boards. The 76ers were lead by point guard Andre Miller, who dropped a game high 30 along with nine rebounds.

San Antonio 98 - Washington 67: Roger Mason has really filled in nicely when Manu Ginobli has been out this year, and this game was no exception. Mason lead everybody with 25 points with 3 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals while shooting 5-for-9 from downtown.

Tim Duncan had his regular double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds and Michael Finley had 19.

The Wizards two stars were the only guys that were productive in the contest. Caron Butler had a team high 24 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, one steal and a block, and Antwaan Jamison had 16 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist and a steal.

Sacramento 95 - Dallas 116: The Mavs got a complete effort from the team tonight, with 6 players scoring at least 10 points. Josh Howard and Brabon Bass shared the team high with 20 points. Jason Kidd added a double-double with 11 points and 11 assists, as well as James Singleton who had 19 points and 12 rebounds.

Beno Udrih had a team high 18 for the Kings with 7 assists. New acquisition Andres Nocioni had 10 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists.

Oklahoma City 120 - Golden State 133: Kevin Durant is making his case as a top 10 player in the league. He dropped 34 last night against the Suns and put up 32 tonight against the Warriors. Kevin, who also had 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals, is now fourth in the league in scoring at 26.2 and is one of the few superstars in central timezone.

Rookie point guard Russell Westbrook, who I think has the second best shot at the rookie of the year award next to O.J. Mayo, had 31 points, 11 assists, and 5 rebounds. Despite those 62 points, the Warriors would ultimately come out on top of this one thanks to Stephen Jackson and Jamal Crawford.

Jackson had 26 points, 9 assists, 4 rebounds and 3 steals and Crawford had 24 points. Corey Maggette had 25 points and 8 rebounds coming off the bench.
