Dwight Howard, Hunter Pence and Lolo Jones: The Lighter Side of Twitter

The news is filled with stories of indiscriminate tweeting, and I've recently written about whether or not this is good for the world of sports.

However, we also seem to be going overboard to take offense. I also wrote about my feeling that the Greeks may have been too hard on Voula Papachristou for tweets that were, admittedly, in very poor taste. But now American Lolo Jones is taking a lot of heat for comments which, personally, I thought were harmless and amusing.

Maybe I'm just prejudiced because Lolo is cute and looks just like one of my favorite cousins, but frankly, accusations of insensitivity, particularly in regard to the Colorado shooting, seem to me to be a huge stretch since the Olympics actually do have a shooting competition.

For whatever ill-advised tweets are inevitably blasted into the cybersphere, I have to say, it's a much greater source for amusing barbs from the man on the street. Needless to say, with all the drama surrounding NBA diva Dwight Howard, the Web has been all *ahem* atwitter with hundreds of ongoing comments about his confirmed rumored impending departure from Orlando and every rabbit hole that such a confirmed rumored impending departure entails.

When you truly know you have a huge #WIN, however, is when the humor starts to know no boundaries, an example of which I'll conclude with as my favorite tweet in the recent past (meaning, the last few days...).
