US Olympic Swimmer Ryan Lochte Sculpted Body with New Diet and Workout Regimen

Gabe ZaldivarJun 7, 2018

Ryan Lochte is built like a machine.

The 2012 Olympics have been a roller coaster for the star swimmer, but there is no mistaking his physique is on par with the best in the world.

That is all by design, as Lochte dedicated himself to working harder and eating smarter on his way to London.

The winner of a gold medal in the 400-meter individual medley sounded off to People Magazine recently on his diet and workout regiment that has him in amazing shape.

One intense story involves him flipping 850-pound tires.

"

My coach got into my head, saying, 'You gotta get London, you gotta get London,' And I got 20 in a row. Then I collapsed on the ground!

"

It wasn't matter of killing himself in workout; he also made sure to change what he ate. US Magazine contends the swimmer consumes between 8,000 and 12,000 calories a day, four times what a normal male would ingest.

That may still be case for Lochte, but none of those calories sound as empty as they used to, via People Magazine

"

He's also switched up his diet. Though Lochte used to be a junk-food fanatic – "I'd eat a whole bag of chips before practice," he says of the days when a typical breakfast might've been "two or three McDonald's egg McMuffins, some hashbrowns and maybe a chicken sandwich" – these days he fuels up in the morning on scrambled eggs, fruit and oatmeal, and salads or healthy wraps for lunch and dinner.

"

Lochte may have faltered a bit after torching the field in the individual medley, falling just short in the 4x100 with fellow star Michael Phelps.

However, there is no question he has put every last ounce of work and thought into guaranteeing he finishes the Olympics out strong.

There are hardly any other swimmers who have worked harder the past four years, and it shows.
