It seems so long ago that Vasquez was cursing out disgruntled Terp fans for jeering the effort of this Terrapins squad. And while Maryland is still a long shot for the NCAA Tournament, General Greivis took the pain away in the form of 35 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists against UNC.
The story lines are plentiful—Maryland stays alive in its pursuit of a tournament appearance, Gary Williams’ job security grows ten-fold and Cliff Tucker (the true star of the game) emerges as the Terps’ most versatile offensive weapon after a stretch of inactivity.
But for now, Vasquez has begun the turnaround necessary for Maryland to make its run to the postseason.
