Brazil Rolls in Men's and Women's Beach Volleyball

Day 3 was a great day for a pair of men's and women's volleyball teams from Brazil, who both swept through their opponents on the London sand. The men's team of Ricardo Santos and Pedro Cunha topped Team Great Britain's Steve Grotowski and John Garcia-Thompson.

Meanwhile, the Brazilian women's tandem of Larissa Franca and Juliana Felisberta Silva dominated their German opposition, winning in straight sets, 21-18, 21-13. The impressive performances from both Brazilian teams should add some pressure on their shoulders as they carry on through the tournament and challenge for a podium finish.

French Women Top Australia in Overtime

The French women's basketball team needed overtime to overcome a tough Australian squad, but in the end it was France winning a narrow contest, 74-70. Emilie Gomis led the way for France, scoring 22 big points in under 29 minutes of play.

The matchup between the two teams was tight all the way through, until France pulled away late, outscoring Australia 9-5 in the overtime period. The two teams will be in action again on Day 5. France will battle Canada, while the Aussies take on Brazil. Both teams are medal contenders at this stage of the competition.

Russia Annihilates Team GB in Women's Handball

The Russian women overwhelmed Team GB in handball on Day 3, winning by a result of 37-16. Russia took a commanding nine-goal lead into halftime, and then expanding on it, scored 20 second-half goals to put away the Brits in front of their London supporters.

Russian goalkeeper Anna Sedoykina played a fantastic match, saving 14 of 30 shots faced. Her brilliance in net and the lethal scoring prowess of the Russian women makes them a serious threat to medal in London this summer.
