USA vs. Angola Women's Basketball: Start Time, Live Stream, TV Info and Preview
If the U.S. women don't beat Angola by 40 or more in their 2012 Olympics battle on Monday, it should be considered an upset.
This American squad is as close to a gold medal lock as you are going to find. As for Angola? Well, they are a lock...to not win a medal.
According to Bovada, the Americans are a staggering 1/12 favorite to win the gold. Meanwhile, Angola has the longest odds at 1000/1. They showed how they earned those long odds in their opener, as they fell to Turkey 72-52. The U.S. won their opener over Croatia 81-56.
So, the chances are this one won't be close. But it is always a treat to watch the talented U.S. team in action.
Where: Olympic Park, London, England
When: Monday, July 30 at 5:15 p.m. ET
Watch: NBC SN
Live Stream: NBCOlympics.com
Key Player to Watch: Nacissela Mauricio, G
In the opener against Turkey, Mauricio was the only Angolan to hit for double figures. She ended with 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the field. This included her going 1-of-2 from beyond the arc—which was one of just three three-point buckets for her team.
The Angolans would be wise to tell Mauricio to let it fly. They need to find someone who will get red hot if they are going to stay close, and Mauricio is their best chance.
Most Important Matchup: U.S.A. vs. Themselves
Yes, this is the easy way out on this one, but come on! This matchup is as lopsided as it gets. There is not a battle on the floor that Angola has any realistic chance of winning.
The only way they can even get close to winning a matchup is if the U.S. sleepwalks and flounders their way through this one.
It happened in the opener. Croatia was able to get within four as late as the fourth quarter before the U.S. woke up.
It needs to be said that that was the night after the opening ceremonies, and Croatia is better than Angola. In other words, don't expect anything that close to happen again.
