Olympics Live Stream 2012: Top Events to Watch on Day 2 of London Action

Mike ChiariJun 7, 2018

With so much intense Olympic action taking place, it simply isn't possible for everything to be televised. Luckily, NBCOlympics.com is live streaming essentially every event, so you can watch whatever you please. Day 2 of the London Games on Sunday will feature several intriguing matchups you won't want to miss.

Since men's basketball is getting started, men's soccer is continuing and many other marquee sports with be contested, Sunday will be chock full of possibilities. Unfortunately, it's tough to watch multiple things at the same time, but there are a few events that will take precedence.

Here are the three most intriguing contests that every fan of the Olympics should watch on television or streaming online during Day 2 of the Games.

USA vs. France Men's Basketball (9:20 a.m. ET on NBCOlympics.com)

There is no more star-studded team in the London Games than the USA men's basketball team. The likes of LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Chris Paul and others will look to defend their gold medal from Beijing, and it starts against France. While Spain is the United States' biggest rival in this tournament, France has some NBA talent that could give the Americans a bit of trouble.

Team USA is heavily favored and should come out on top, but it won't be able to ease into the tournament. France features a penetrating point guard in Tony Parker, a versatile big in Boris Diaw and a wing player who can hit from long range in Nicolas Batum. That may not be enough to challenge the Americans, but we should see exactly how good Team USA's form is and what will need to improve moving forward.

Great Britain vs. United Arab Emirates Men's Soccer (2:45 p.m. ET on NBCOlympics.com)

As a team expected to win a medal on home soil, the Great Britain men's soccer team faced a lot of pressure when it opened play on Thursday. Team GB led Senegal late, but the African squad scored a beautiful goal to tie it, leaving both team with one point to show for the match. Great Britain and Senegal are tied for second in the group behind Uruguay, who defeated United Arab Emirates 2-1 in its first contest.

Uruguay had a lot of trouble with UAE, however, so Great Britain will be in for a fight. The United Arab Emirates showcased its young talent and often carried the play in the first half, leading to a 1-0 lead against Uruguay at one point. Great Britain showed a penchant for sitting back and playing a defensive style against Senegal, but the host nation will need to be a bit more aggressive in its second match, and it should make for an entertaining one.

Women's 400-Meter Freestyle Swimming Final (2:30 p.m. ET on NBCOlympics.com)

While none of the top-tier swimming finals are set to take place on Day 2, there will be several of them to monitor, and the most interesting will likely be the women's 400-meter freestyle. World-record holder Federica Pellegrini may be the slight favorite, but there are tons of contenders who are so evenly matched that it is extremely difficult to pick a potential winner.

France's Camille Muffat was best in Olympic qualifying followed by Pellegrini, but there are a couple Americans to watch as well. Chloe Sutton will have to battle to make the finals, but Allison Schmitt is very much in the running for a medal, perhaps even the gold. Schmitt was nearly two seconds slower than Muffat when it came to qualifying for the Olympics, but it is an entirely different animal when swimmers are racing against each other on the big stage.

With so many possibilities in this race, it is definitely one you won't want to miss.
