WWE News: Will the Rock Appear at WrestleMania XXIX?

Max TowleJun 7, 2018

In news that will alarm many a WWE fan, Raj Giri of Wrestlinginc.com today reported that The Rock may not be able to take part in next year's WrestleMania, due to his commitments for his upcoming film GI Joe 2: Retaliation.

The movie opens only a week before the showcase pay-per-view takes place, however WWE chairman Vince McMahon remains hopeful that the situation can be resolved.

"A source told me that Vince McMahon is optimistic that The Rock can balance his New York-related GI Joe media appearances on the east coast with WrestleMania," the story states.

Although this would be extremely difficult, Vince believes that by tying in both events, both can benefit as a result of cross-advertising.

This would mean focusing publicity for the movie in the New York metro-area, where WrestleMania is set to take place.

The Rock is due to compete for the WWE Title at 2013's Royal Rumble event, but has not yet made an announcement regarding any other appearances after that.

On Monday's 1000th Raw, a potential feud was set up with current wrestler CM Punk and turned the straight-edge superstar heel as a result.

It is also possible for a feud with John Cena to be reignited, setting up a rematch from this year's WM.

Earlier in the year, The Rock had announced his intention to once again hold the title belt, but on Monday revealed just when he would get the opportunity to do so.

One thing's for certain, WWE fans will wait patiently for an update on this story and will hope that the issue will be resolved as soon as possible.
