Olympics 2012 TV Schedule / Coverage: Watch the Biggest USA Events This Weekend

Event times are indicative of the times at which these events will air on NBC. Some events may happen earlier in the day but will not be aired until the time indicated on this schedule.

Signature events of opening weekend include Team USA basketball's matchup against NBA veteran Tony Parker and France's national team. USA is a favorite to win the gold-medal game but must defeat the French in this opening preliminary match if they are to realize those ambitions.

Also, Saturday will see the first faceoff between Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte in the 400-meter individual medley. Phelps holds the world record in the 400 IM, but Lochte is the reigning world champion after defeating him at the world championships in 2011.
