Must MMA/UFC Writers Endure Drive-By Shouting?

First of all, let's get this straight. I write about MMA and the UFC because of my love for the sport.

This is not a job for me.

Unlike being a teacher or a nurse, I am not paid to write my opinions.

I have had offers, but this is where I want to write.

Public relations and controversy do not affect my job performance; I have my own opinions and this site has given me and other writers the option to write our opinions on MMA and the UFC.

The world today because of the anonymity the Internet affords to bloggers, has turned people who would not dare approach a person and shout obscenities and rude comments at them in public, the option to do just that and retain their privacy.

Cowards!

The Internet has spawned cowards. Those who would be ashamed to approach me as I sit in my wheelchair and berate me in public; which is a good thing for their personal welfare, feel free to attack me brutally and at will on the Bleacher Report.

Disabled people are protected by law because they are not capable of protecting themselves against "normal" people who have currently become absolute cyber bullies.

These people commit what I call "drive-by shouting."

Even when I was employed I had protection from harassment in the work place.

Students did not stand up in the middle of class and call me a bitch or yell f-words at me.

As a nurse I often dealt with very angry people, especially on the psychiatric intensive care (locked) unit. People did get abusive at times, but it did not benefit them at all to pick on me.

I was fair; I did not pick on those in my care in either profession. I met with success and approval because I had patience and an even temper.

Now I am older, less patient and am not motivated to meet rudeness without becoming angry myself.

Does this reflect badly on me?

I think not. I am, after all, only human and I do have a limit to my tolerance.

So to all you people who sign on only for the purpose of reaming me out because you disagree with my opinion...you are the worse kind of coward and I have no respect for the opinion of one who signs on this site only to give me grief.

Get a life.

Or even better, write an article and let everyone know who you are and what you have going for you.

Enough about this sad, damaged old woman.

Put yourself out here and see if you can do better.

Let me inspire you to fully express what is on your mind.

But first, write a profile and tell us who you are.

That's right. Don't hide or be anonymous—be as brave as the 63-year-old woman you hate.

And if you fall flat on your ass, get up and try again.

If worse comes to worse you can say, "Grandma Dee made me do it!"
