London 2012: Team USA's Best Chances for Olympic Gold on Day 1
In the Modern Olympic Era, the United States has won over 2,300 total medals, more than any other nation in history, and it looks to add to that in London.

But each and every day during the 2012 Summer Olympic Games, Bleacher Report will be highlighting certain athletes from the United States who we feel have the best chance to make the podium in their respective events.
Twelve Medal Events are taking place on Day 1. That means 36 medals will be awarded in various sports. Brittany Umar gives some insight into where Team USA has the best chance to bring home some hardware on the first full day of competition.
