If you are looking for an Olympic power couple, you can hardly do better than Ashton Eaton and Brianne Theisen.

Both track and field stars will have their sights set on gold at the London Olympics.

Most will recognize Eaton as the well-built decathlete who is the best chance the Americans have at gold in the event.

He won a silver medal in the Decathlon at the 2011 World Championships and won gold in the 2012 World Indoor Championships in the heptathlon.

That hardly tells the whole story of his mettle entering London. The University of Oregon standout also broke the world record at the Olympic trials

As for Theisen, she is no slouch herself.

A fellow Oregon Duck, she finished second in the Canadian trials and will compete in London in the heptathlon.

While their team loyalties end with Oregon, there is no doubt the two will be rooting one another on in the coming weeks.

The two are engaged and just enjoying what comes in tandem with being world-class stars. Eaton, for his part, was featured recently in the Body Issue of ESPN the Magazine. Here is what Theisen had to say, via CBC

They gave him a pedicure, and it was funny, he said, 'I've never got that before.' But they wanted to shave his legs and I said, 'Don't let them shave your legs!

He was kind of like, should I do it? I was like, 'I think you should do it, I think it's kind of cool. Not all athletes get to do that.' He was like, wouldn't it be like you being in Playboy? Isn't that kind of weird? I said, no, it's athletes, it's not the same at all. You should go do it.

He went and he had a lot of fun.

Now the fun ends and the serious business of international competition begins.

Eaton and Theisen both have what it takes to feature heavily in their competitions to the very end. For U.S. fans, Eaton looks locked and loaded to give one hell of a performance on the biggest stage in the world.

He won't be there alone.
