Brazil began its quest for gold today in opening-round Olympic soccer action. Although the team has never taken top honors in the sport's Olympic history, Brazil is considered a favorite at the 2012 London Games.

However, an upstart Egypt squad made things extremely difficult for Brazil.

Brazil led 3-0 at intermission, but never found momentum in the second half and narrowly survived, 3-2. Incredible effort by the Egyptians, who may have sent Brazil an early wake-up call.
