Blue Jays Salvage Series Finale with 10-4 Win over the Oakland A's

Clarence Baldwin JrJun 2, 2018

Toronto's Travis Snyder executed a perfect bunt single and combined with Tom Milone's throwing error, the Blue Jays took a sixth inning lead and never looked back, snapping Oakland's seven-game win streak with a 10-4 win at the Rogers Centre.

Milone took the loss, falling to 9-7 on the year as he went seven innings, allowing five earned runs on eight hits while striking out seven. Oakland took an early 3-0 lead and looked like they might be headed for a sweep of Toronto along with their eighth-straight win.

Josh Reddick got the scoring started with his 22nd home run, a first-inning blast to right field off Blue Jays' starter Aaron Laffey. Brandon Inge made it 3-0 after getting just enough to get his 11th home run over the left center field wall in the fourth.

The Blue Jays would rally to tie the score in the bottom of the fourth as Edwin Encarnacion continued his career year with his 27th home run, a three-run tally to knot the score. Oakland bounced right back in the top of the fifth to plate the lead run as Reddick's force out scored Jemile Weeks.

However, Yoenis Cespedes could not add to the tally, bouncing out to third with runners on the corners.

Kelly Johnson added insurance in the seventh, going deep off Milone to make it 6-4. The wheels came off in the eighth as Sean Doolittle could only record two outs, allowing four runs to bust the game open.

The key in the inning was a gift single on an Encarnacion pop up that Chris Carter could not play in fair ground. And the loss drops the A's to 53-45 as they head to Baltimore for a key three-game series against the Orioles beginning Friday.

Jarrod Parker will square off against Zach Britton for Baltimore with the first pitch set for 4:05 p.m. EST.
