Manchester United Transfer Rumors: Why Moura Is Worth an Increased Bid

That Lucas Moura is one of Manchester United's top transfer targets is hardly a secret, but despite rumors that United fell short in their bid for the midfielder, the deal could still get done according to the Daily Mail.

Moura's agent, Wagner Ribeiro, was among the skeptics who did not see a deal getting done, noting that United did not offer a high enough bid.

Sao Paolo vice-president Joao Paulo de Jesus Lopes was not so quick to abandon hope, however, as he expects United to continue to negotiate for Moura.

For United's sake, hopefully Lopes is correct in his expectation of an increased bid, as Moura is a top talent who would fill the Red Devils' biggest hole.

Only 19 years old, Moura is already one of the top players in Brazil, scoring 26 goals in his first three years of club play.

What makes Moura so special is his quickness and ball-handling ability. Moura excels at pushing the ball up the middle of the field, a trait that would be especially valuable to United.

United simply wasn't able to score effectively against rival Manchester City last season, and this inability to score kept United from being the top team in the Premiere League.

With an improved and more explosive midfield, however, the Red Devils would have the offensive flexibility to put much more scoring pressure on City.

Moura would offer that explosion that United so desperately needs, as he would bring an attacking presence that the Red Devils have lacked in recent years.

Further, Moura would be a major benefit to striker and leading scorer Wayne Rooney. Too often was Rooney forced to drop deep to collect the ball, but with Moura's attacking presence, Rooney could be more aggressive in pushing up the pitch.

All in all, Moura's contributions would greatly improve the Red Devils' group of midfielders while also improving the quality of play of his teammates.

These contributions could be the key to retaking the top spot in the Premiere League, and that makes increasing the bid for Moura a no-brainer.
