Kendall Fuller: Odds 5-Star CB Picks USC or Michigan over Clemson, Va Tech
For most of Kendall Fuller's recruiting process, Clemson and Virginia Tech have led the way.
Both schools are still atop Fuller's list, but there's a small chance the 5-star cornerback and No. 3 overall prospect by Rivals might look elsewhere.
In an interview with Rivals, Fuller, who is considered by most to be one of the nation's top 5 cornerbacks, continued to show interest in Michigan, and he dropped a bit of a surprise when he said he wanted to visit USC.
"I'll probably take official visits to both Clemson and Virginia Tech and maybe take one out to Michigan as well," Fuller said. "I might also take a look at USC. At The Opening, I was talking a lot to Chris Hawkins, Jalen Ramsey and Max Browne and they got me interested, but I'm not sure about that yet."
It seems USC's hype train in recruiting continues to churn, and having Rivals' top-rated quarterback, Browne, talking to Fuller is certainly worth keeping an eye on.
Though this is a new storyline to keep track of, Fuller made it clear that Clemson and Virginia Tech are still his top two schools.
"I am still 50-50 between Virginia Tech and Clemson after comparing the two visits back-to-back so I'm not ready yet," Fuller said.
So what does this all mean? Well, the Tigers and Hokies are still sitting pretty, because not only did Fuller enjoy his visits, but distance seems to be something he's concerned with as well. After all, distance is what's keeping him from going to Oregon.
And Virginia Tech has something no other school can offer, brotherly love. Kendall's older brothers, Kyle and Corey, are currently on the Hokies roster, and though Kendall says otherwise, that could be a strong factor in determining which school he chooses.
But what Clemson has on both Michigan, USC and Virginia Tech is an opening at the cornerback position. Michigan just received 4-star Penn State decommit Ross Douglas to go with 4-star cornerbacks Gareon Conley and Jourdan Lewis, while USC has 4-star cornerback commits Jalen Ramsey and Chris Hawkins.
Virginia Tech has a 4-star commit in Charles Clark and a pair of 3-star commits, but Clemson's highest rated cornerback is 2-star David Kamara. That's less competition for Fuller.
And though USC and Michigan both have prestige on their side, Clemson and Virginia Tech have a sense of comfort about them to Fuller.
"I wanted to see if I got that same vibe I got the first time," he said. "And I did, it was a great vibe once again. I am still 50-50 between Virginia Tech and Clemson after comparing the two visits back-to-back so I'm not ready yet."
Because Fuller has enjoyed his trips with Virginia Tech and Clemson so much, the chances Michigan or USC overtakes them is highly unlikely.
