London 2012: Lolo Jones' Celebrity Status Will Only Skyrocket at Olympic Games
When it comes to women's track and field, the biggest name in the world right now is U.S. hurdler Lolo Jones.
And, after the 2012 London Olympics, her name will be even bigger than that of former U.S. track athletes Jackie Joyner-Kersee and Marion Jones (although most would like to forget her).
Her disappointment at the 2008 Olympics, where she hit the ninth of 10 hurdles in a final she was clearly winning, was one many track fans will long remember.

Then, after getting over that disappointment, it was discovered that she had a spinal problem where she couldn't feel her feet, thus not letting her brain know where they were, which could've been attributed to why she kicked over the hurdle in Beijing.
After that problem got corrected, Jones made her way back to the track and slowly began her rise again.
Then, in a May episode of "Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel," Jones elaborated on a tweet in which she confessed she was a virgin.
"It's something, a gift I want to give my husband. This journey has been hard. It's the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. Harder than training for the Olympics. Harder than studying for college has been staying a virgin before marriage.
"
Those comments have brought out multiple opinions on both sides, for which Jones has stuck by her beliefs.
In the U.S. Olympic Trials, Jones finished third in the event to qualify for the Olympics and will be seeking redemption in London.
Regardless of what happens, Jones is the new face of women's track and field around the world.
I don't care what any other female athlete does in track and field, the spotlight will remain on Jones during the Olympics and after the flame is extinguished.
And, why shouldn't it be?
Regardless on whether you agree with her stance on saving herself for marriage, she's gone about things the right way and is representing the U.S. in the best way possible.
She's captivated the country with her story, and she is about to really rake in the sponsorship dollars, especially if she brings home gold.
One thing is for sure, her tour schedule after the Olympics is going to be busy if there's a gold medal around her neck.
