WWE News: Possible Reasons Behind Alex Riley's De-Push Revealed

With his divorce in the rear view mirror, John Cena probably thought he would be able to get some breathing room from rumors.

Apparently, that is not the case.

Reports have surfaced that John Cena may be directly, or indirectly, responsible for Alex Riley being taken down several notches after being pushed heavily in a program with The Miz.

TWNP News is reporting (Via PWInsider) the following:

PWInsider.com reports word going around is that a while back, Riley was backstage with John Cena and Cena was ribbing him in front of some of the other wrestlers. Riley reportedly came back angrily at Cena, which was seen as him “breaking the code of the locker-room.”

This report is interesting because it is coming out such a long time after Riley was taken off TV for a significant amount of time.

Many fans were left scratching their heads as to why the young up-and-coming superstar was being used sparingly following what many called a successful feud.

While these kinds of reports in the wrestling industry need to be taken with a grain of salt—especially when it comes to credibility and truth—it seems like this story could actually be logical.

Wrestling is a business built on history and respect amongst the performers, and when somebody steps out of line they are usually punished.

Triple H once stated in his DVD Triple H: The King of Kings that one of his first memorable experiences involved paying respect to a legend.

Hunter was sitting in the locker room in a folding chair when Harley Race walked in. Hunter, knowing how these sorts of things worked, quickly offered his chair to the living legend in a show of respect, which Race appreciated.

The backstage politics of WWE have always been talked about, but if getting angry when someone is making fun of you stops your push then it appears superstars really have to walk on egg shells these days.

Perhaps Riley can bounce back from this setback at some point, but until he does, we should get used to seeing him pop up on occasion to job to someone getting a push.
