Real Madrid Rumors: Los Blancos Shouldn't Be so Quick to Push Kaka out the Door

Richard LangfordJul 24, 2012

All signs are pointing towards Kaka's time with Real Madrid coming to an end, but Los Blancos will regret forcing this plan into action.

While it is ill-advised, this move certainly is not a surprise. Speculation of Kaka's departure has been rampant for the past year. This situation appears to now be coming to a head.

According to local media reports, Kaka met Mourinho and Real director general Jose Angel Sanchez on Monday and was told he was not guaranteed a place in the starting lineup this season and should seek alternative employment.

Real Madrid have plenty of reason to move on from Kaka. He has never lived up to his huge salary since joining Madrid on a then-record deal in 2009.

Kaka has shown flashes of the brilliance that made him World Footballer of the Year in 2007 since joining Madrid, but he has been wildly inconsistent and slowed by injury, and last year he spent most of his time backing up Mesut Ozil.

While it is slightly absurd to carry a player making that much money who isn't even starting, since when has Real Madrid been in the business of caring about slightly absurd contracts?

This is not the time for Real Madrid to get cheap.

Los Blancos is coming off of an impressive run to the La Liga crown and knocking Barcelona out of the top spot they had a stranglehold on for three years. To repeat this triumph, they are going to have to fight off complacency, and having fierce competition for starting positions is a way to do just that.

Kaka still has the talent to contribute, either as a sub or a starter. That would make the club better not just by his play, but because he will push others to greater heights through the in-team competition.

While it would be expensive to keep Kaka, it is going to be costly to let him go.
