Chelsea Transfer Rumors: Brazilian Star Oscar Would Shine with Blues

Patrick ClarkeJun 7, 2018

Brazilian football star Oscar would shine bright with Chelsea if acquired by the Blues this summer.

According to the UK's Mirror, and ESPN.com, Giovanni Luigi, president of Sport Club Internacional, confirmed that negotiations between Chelsea and Oscar were "very advanced."

The crafty young midfielder would make an immediate impact on the Blues squad next season, helping them replace the scoring void left by Didier Drogba's departure. Drogba scored 13 goals for Chelsea in all competitions last season, and scored 157 total over the last eight seasons at Stamford Bridge.

Although the quality of Oscar's strikes wouldn't be comparable to Drogba's early on, as he plays further back in midfield and will have to adjust to life in the English Premier League, his potential is endless at age 20.

Oscar has 11 goals and five assists with Internacional in 36 career appearances dating back to 2010. His experience at the elite club level is lacking, but the production is there and his best years are ahead of without question.

Even better, Oscar actually wants to be there:

"

"If I go to Chelsea, it will be a dream...it’s a big club in Europe. I’m sure that I will have a great Olympics and I will stay, in Chelsea. If it doesn’t happen, I will go back to Internacional [in Brazil] to keep doing my work." - via Mirror

Chelsea fans and football lovers in general will get to take in Oscar's talent first hand this summer at the 2012 London Olympics, where he will play for the Brazilian Olympic team as they look to win the nation's first gold medal at the Summer Games.

There isn't a whole lot to dislike about Oscar's game, and the Mirror reports that Chelsea can get him for a £25 million fee, which is pennies it seems for world-class potential.

Chelsea must make sure to complete this transfer, as Oscar is a rare talent that's sure to shine for years to come at Stamford Bridge.
